Based on the blog work of G.Lampert glampert.github.io which has some greats topics to follow! As I'm not really a big fan of "front-coding", I will only focus on the content of the blog than it's programming.

It uses Jekyll to generate the site from a set of static Markdown and HTLM pages annotated with the Liquid templating language.
